Received a text message from this number (201) 762-8469..."Hi, My name is Mike Martinez, I'm contacting you regarding your property at ************ in Littleton CO. Are you interested in selling?"
I replied with telling this person that he had the wrong person and that I do not own the property there.
When I mentioned this to my local debtors support group, several said that this was one of the tactics they had seen before where an unscrupulous debt collector would spoof or hide their true identity in order to confirm a debtor's contact details so they could continue their harassment (collection) efforts.
Recently, I have been A LOT of collection calls for really, really old debts from before my divorce some 8 years ago that my ex-husband may have known about. He had a gambling and drinking problem, thus our divorce. Not sure why they are coming after me for HIS debts. He died almost 2 years ago from liver disease and I hadn't spoken with him since our divorce.
